Star Track: Jillian Breeger Mon, 14 Apr 2008 17:10:00 -0400 Jillian Breeger , 10, of Newport News swam to two Coast Guard Blue Dolphins records while placing highly in several events at the state short-course age-group championships from March 13-16 at the Freedom Aquatic Center in Manassas. She won the 100-yard butterfly in 1 minute, 8.77 seconds, and was the runner-up in the 50 backstroke (32.61), 100 individual medley (1:11.11) and 50 butterfly (30.68). In the 50 back and 50 fly, she set CGBD age-group records. In that meet, she was sixth-highest scorer among girls. Breeger then represented Virginia at the Eastern Zone Short Course Championships from April 3-5 at Erie Community College in Buffalo, N.Y. In that meet, she finished fourth in the 50 fly in 30.25, breaking her team record. She also was part of the winning 200 freestyle relay. She's a fifth-grader at Dutrow Elementary. |
