Star Track: Kristen Tunno Sun, 13 Jul 2008 00:00:00 -0400 Kristen Tunno of Seaford enjoyed an auspicious debut in college softball this season. Tunno, a freshman outfielder at Indiana (Pa.) University, earned first-team honors in the NCAA Division II Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference. She hit .341 (44-for-129), by far the best batting average among the Crimson Hawks' regular players. She started 37 games, scored 10 runs, drove in six and had three doubles and two triples. She made only one error for Indiana (17-26, 12-8), which qualified for its conference playoffs and finished 1-2 in those. Tunno, 5-foot-9, bats left-handed but throws righty. She led the Crimson Hawks with 14 multiple-hit games, including three-hit contests against California (Pa.) and Slippery Rock. She also had a 10-game hitting streak. Tunno graduated from Grafton High, where she was a 2007 first-team all-Bay Rivers District infielder as a senior. In 2006, she played second base and was the Region I player of the year and a first-team Daily Press All-Star, hitting .447 with nine doubles and 33 runs through the regional tournament. As a sophomore, she used her bunting prowess to bat .500 and become a first-team Daily Press All-Star. She also was a Daily Press All-Stars and first-team all-Region I volleyball selection who compiled 446 kills, 251 digs and 30 aces as a senior in the fall of 2006. |
